So, the thing I really really wanted to see up close beyond all other things were the outfits, and I spent more time in the costume sections than anywhere else. I have always been in awe of his outfitting.
It is TRAGIC that most of my outfit shots did not come out well at all, especially the military cyberpunk chrome suit I have loved loved loved for going on 20 years or so now. Well, I didn't get a good picture, but I touched it! THAT'S RIGHT I TOUCHED PRETTY MUCH ALL OF THE CLOTHES I COULD POSSIBLY REACH! What The Animator and I did was spot for each other ... one would keep an eye out for the attractive large men in black suits and earbuds while the other would finger a sleeve or pant leg. When we were busted a few times, the attractive large men in black suits and earbuds were kind about it. They'd 'casually' wander over, make eye contact, and give you a You Know You're Doing Wrong And Don't Make Me Come Over There look (that was actually friendly, even thought it was a threat! Quite a feat!). I think their earbuds were getting alerts from whoever was watching the cctv screens via the bubbles in the sky.
Most of the clothes were arranged around what we called The Dance Floor (though we were the only ones dancing, and badly because we were trying to dance while juggling cups of drink, plates of food and cameras). They had this big open area where they were projecting concert footage on a giant screen; eventually it hit you that what he's wearing on the screen is all around you on the floor.
Gotta say, Julien's Auctions, Continental Colorcraft and Cobalt Design did a magnificent job with the presentation for the event.
As suspected, the outfits were all beautifully constructed. Whoever his costume designers are rock. The big surprise for me was seeing how small they are. On tv he looks slim. Looking at the clothes, in real life he must be tiny.
