If you're thinking about it, please feel free to not send me the link to the NYT story about the lazy use of anti-gay slurs in film and theater. Appreciate it, but I saw it this morning while doing the coffee and paper ritual. Then I saw it oh, about 75 or so more times as it landed in one inbox or another. As I type, it's popped into one of the inboxes twice more. (Which is funny, actually.)
We thank you for your kind attention to this matter.
Next day update: I didn't link to the story because it's poor. On the spectrum False Trend media stories, this one falls on the "we just noticed something and decided to Proclaim it new" end. The issue the article is getting at has been going on forever, particularly in film... it is not a new phenomena as the story would frame it. On top of that, the story takes an extremely surface skim glance at the topic. One gets the sense that Borat was the only film the reporter saw in the past five years or so.
So! Because the story is crap, no linky. Hunt it down on the NYT site yourself if you're that interested. It'll probably be a couple of more days before it's tossed behind the firewall.
