The thought occurred that a better idea than sitting on the couch yelling at the television would be to attend opening day of Obama's SoCal field office. So, straight from the office and 45-minutes of searching for parking later, massive crowds of all sorts of people from all over the city! Politicos! Cheerfully rowdy spontaneous demonstrations! Media from everywhere! Chanting wars across four lanes of traffic! Showing off the Obama logo quilt purse to the campaign's California organizer, who in turn showed off her sky-blue Obama shirt that her daughter tie-died, she decorated, and Obama autographed! The nice police officers who broke it all up at the end!
All of the lawn signs were gone early on, but I did snag an official Obama/Biden sticker, which goes on the car tomorrow, and a McCain "Nope" sticker. I also obtained the last Shepard Fairley "Hope" sticker within a 10-mile radius. Some guy offered me $40 for it as I walked away. I laughed at him. That one goes into the shadowbox.
It was FABULOUS, and the perfect thing to disperse the residual fury from last night.
Pictures and more details later.
Update! I'm in some of the crowd shots on the news, and where you can't see me, you can HEAR me specifically. This I learned when the cell started going off a couple of minutes ago. hahahahaha
