Incognegro...But Not The One You're Thinking Of

Continuing our week of Blog Delaying Tactics: Bird Flu 2006 Edition...

Mat Johnson will follow up Hellblazer: Papa Midnite with a new Vertigo mini-series with the coolest title ever: Incognegro. It's described in the press release as "a noir mystery based on true tales of undercover race spying in the Jim Crow South." Editor Jonathan Vankin goes on to say, "This tale, about forgotten heroes of the battle for racial justice, is not only a vital work of social commentary, it’s a blistering thriller that will leave you both exhilarated and outraged."

Am I the only one who experienced a short sharp of Mild Alarm at the title, thinking that Vertigo got Mat Johnson to turn the Ludacris' ... masterpiece .... into a comic book? I recovered once I got to the end of the second sentence, but still. It was scary moments there for a while.

Anyways, sounds like an fabulous project and it shall go on my Keep An Eye Out For It List. If for no other reason than Hunting in Harlem was a light year leap over Drop, I'm ever so eager to see how he'll pull this Vertigo thing off!

Totally swiped from Rich.
